About Us

The Dawn of Rotary

Rotary began with the vision of Paul Harris, a Chicago attorney who founded the Rotary Club of Chicago on February 23, 1905. His idea was to create a space where professionals from different backgrounds could come together, share ideas, and develop lifelong friendships. Over time, this vision expanded beyond professional exchange, growing into a global movement dedicated to humanitarian service. Rotary members, also known as Rotarians, have since built a strong legacy of addressing challenges both in their local communities and on a global scale, contributing to numerous impactful projects around the world.

The Rise of Singapore North

The Rotary Club of Singapore North has its roots in the late 1981, when the Rotary Club of Singapore East, experiencing remarkable growth, recognized the need for a new club. Spearheaded by two dedicated members, Past President Robert Pwee and MN Swami, this initiative took shape as they enlisted Kim Li Chee to assist in gathering 19 additional members. With a united founding group of 22 individuals, the Rotary Club of Singapore North was officially established in April 1982, proudly becoming the seventh Rotary club in Singapore. The club received its official charter on August 10, 1982, marking the beginning of its impactful journey in service.
